About the Event
This event will address the urgent need to scale up climate finance to support a just and equitable transition away from fossil fuels and to help communities address the impacts of climate change. It will feature a dynamic discussion between negotiators from Pacific SIDS, representatives of the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative, and leaders from the "Make Big Polluters Pay" campaign.
The conversation will focus on novel and just financing mechanisms that can close the current funding gap whilst facilitating the transition away from fossil fuels. Participants will share their perspectives on how to shift capital from fossil fuel expansion to justice-aligned renewable energy solutions, making the case for why wealthy nations and the corporations most responsible for the climate crisis must fulfill their financial obligations.
