
Biography
Talei is an Indigenous iTaukei Fijian with a strong commitment to community-centred development and relational leadership. As Executive Administrator at PICAN, she supports the Secretariat through high-level coordination, communications, and administrative oversight, ensuring smooth operations and effective collaboration across the network.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Human Resource Management & Employee Relations from the University of the South Pacific, along with postgraduate studies in Border Security and Management. This academic background informs her strategic and people-focused approach to organisational systems and regional engagement.
Her professional experience includes over three years in the Government of Fiji and more than a year in the private sector. Transitioning into the NGO space has allowed her to align her skills with her passion for supporting movements rooted in social justice, Indigenous knowledge, and climate resilience.
She is deeply committed to strengthening local communities in Fiji and contributing to broader regional and global efforts. Her work is grounded in Pacific values and the belief that traditional knowledge systems and relational leadership are key to advancing sustainable futures.
