Veronica Nauqe
Executive Administrator
Biography
Veronica is the Executive Administrator at the Pacific Islands Climate Action Network (PICAN), based at the Secretariat in Suva, Fiji. She brings a strong academic foundation in environmental management and a genuine enthusiasm for climate and environmental justice to the role.
Veronica is a graduate of the University of the South Pacific (USP), completing a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Management in 2019 and a Postgraduate Diploma in Climate Change in April 2021. Her research interests sit at the intersection of climate change and public health, with a particular focus on air quality.
Before joining PICAN, Veronica was a Project Research Assistant at Cure Kids Fiji, where she contributed to studies examining children's exposure to air pollution in Fiji and the burden of disease attributable to it. This work, delivered through collaboration between Fijian and international research partners, connected community-level realities across greater Suva with broader regional questions of clean energy transition and child health.
Her wider professional experience includes Quality Assurance, complemented by short-term engagements with civil society organisations such as the Australia Pacific Climate Alumni Network (APCAN) and Aura Planning.
At PICAN, Veronica supports the Secretariat to keep the network running smoothly, ensuring members and partners across the Pacific have the coordination and administrative backbone they need to advance climate justice for the region.
